Reading is very easily the best option aside from hands-on learning when developing a new skill. When done right, you can learn so much from a single author. Not only this, but you can also adapt concepts from what you read to fit your personal needs too.
I will be the first to admit, I hate to read. I do it anyways, maybe not as much as I should obviously. To help me cope with reading, and ensuring I retain what I need to I developed a little system that works for me. I’ve gone ahead and shared this with you below in case you are in the same situation as myself.
Step one for me involves skimming the book and noting the pages that seemed very interesting to me with a post-it.
Step two allows me to actually read the book word for word, and as I do so I highlight knowledgeable areas. I Also underline things that are good to know, but not necessarily super important to the skillset. This includes how-to’s and guides within the book, but also recipes and even some personal experiences that the chef of the book writes about.
Step three for me is where I normally take some time away from the book. Afterward, I go back and re-read/ skim. Going over what I highlighted. I do also sometimes take notes in a pad of paper here.
How you read is up to you as well as what you read! Never the less, below are 6 books written for the new beginner in sous vide cooking (and one bonus book)! Enjoy!
A newer book with only 9 customer reviews currently, author Jason Logsdon of "Simple Sous Vide" has a wonderful guide of 200 delicious recipes. More importantly for a beginner, the book begins with a safety chapter, and focuses into time and temperature. You will learn to cook with your circulator in this book. But learning the safety and why things cook is going to be your #1 step into building knowledge on the cooking method! A great read!Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
This book is going to be a source for you when you start off cooking sous vide. The book begins with a delightful chart on how to cook specific temperatures. It builds off this chart while you progress through the book parsing through recipes meant for the beginner. A good read, and currently has an average review of 4.5 out of 5 stars on amazon!
For the money, this book should be on your next Christmas wishlist's. It was written specifically for your anova, and of course it can be adapted to work with any other circulator. Beginning with how to use your circulator, setup instructions and pro tips, Author Isabelle D. says this book can bring you into the realm of being a sous vide expert. It covers recipes too, ranging over fish, beef, pork, chicken, and even a few desserts.Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
What makes a sous vide recipe easy to read? For me, I like to know the statistics or a recipe. For example, how long the cook will take, prepare, and heck even to eat. Well, Author Lina Davis does just this and more in "Sous Vide Cookbook". You can expect to find recipes for proteins, but also recipes covering sauces and marinades which are a huge addition to adding flavor to your next meals! Buyer beware, the reviews are closer to a lower 4 out of 5 stars, and it would seem to stem from most people not being happy that although this book is marketed for 500 recipes, it only includes 55.Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
Quite a new book to the market, they have already received a couple of good reviews. They all seem to generate from the fact that the recipes are absolutely delicious and well worth the prep and cook time! The way the book is written, expect to find what the authors call "Master Recipes" which they break down into other dishes throughout the book! Could this be the best book for meal prep? Thats up to how you use it! Have fun reading!Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
293 is the current count of reviews for this book on Amazon, and at this moment they average at 4.3 out of 5 stars! Quite impressive and there is a reason as to why. This book focuses on food safety concerns and how cooking with sous vide works. Then leads into fabulous recipes meant for the beginner. That being said, it does eventually lead to more advanced options. However, I don't see this as a problem at all personally! Anyone starting out could use this book how they want, I fully suggest reading it front to back and eventually give those more experienced recipes a go! Enjoy!!!Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping

Gary Copeling is the amazing author who wrote this book and I love it! This was the first sous vide specific book that I ever got. Gary begins with a preface describing the essentials and elements of cooking. From safety, why and how things cook, and leads eventually into even some tools you need. Then the recipes come. And they are delicious! My favorite so far is the Pork Belly Tacos! I also really enjoy how he chose to break the book up by types of meat, making it very easy to browse to find the right recipes for what we have at home to be cooked!Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
Another newer book on the marketplace, this book only bolsters 8 reviews currently. However they are all at a 5 star review.Usually ships in 24 hours & Free shipping
